Oktoberfest Beers

If you can’t get to Munich or Der Schwarze Kolner for Oktoberfest, the German celebration of harvest, Steve the beerman recommends you try these Oktoberfest-style beers at home. Oktoberfest-style beers are rich and amber-colored with a sweet malty finish but are not so heavy that you will dread singing the 20th round of “Ein Prosit”. These bottles are all seasonal brews with limited availability so get them while you can.

Victory Festbier – this Oktoberfest style beer comes from one of our favorite Pennsylvania breweries but all German malts and whole flower European hops make this lager true to style.

Atwater Bloktoberfest – Brewed in Detroit, Michigan with 100% German malt for a rich taste and amber color. Sweet caramel flavor on the palate.

Bluepoint Oktober – the local Long Island option!

Abita Pecan Harvest – Louisiana’s famed microbrewery does Oktoberfest local style with a nod to their pecan-farming industry. Pecans are actually used in the brewing process, giving the beer a light pecan finish and aroma. I guess this one’s for the busy executive on the go who need their beer and bar snacks all in one convenient package.
