How To Travel & Still Drink Good Coffee

On average, this nation consumes about 400 million cups of coffee a day. And while food trends come and go, America’s favorite caffeinated beverage is less of a trend and more of an evolution. Who’d have guessed that we would be drinking cans of nitro cold brew in 2018! Thankfully at Provisions our buyers have a handle on sourcing great local products from people who really know their beans. Here’s a round up of some of our favorite ways to enjoy a cup of joe, while traveling, beating the heat, or enjoying a summer show. We’ve got something for everyone!

THE TRADITIONALIST
Parlor Coffee, Prospect

For this small roaster located across from the Navy Yard, producing good beans means traveling far and wide for the perfect fair trade crop and connecting it with skilled roasters. Our buyer’s top pick  this month is Prospect. Half Ethiopia Kilenso Mokonisa, and half Colombia Frontera de Acevedo, this blend is distinctive floral and spiced notes are married to cocoa, grapefruit and marzipan. “I definitely feel that Parlor Coffee’s Prospect is amazing it reminds me of waking up in the morning with my grandmother when I was young.” – Miguel Franco, Provisions Coffee Buyer

THE GLOBETROTTER

THE TASTE MAKER
Rise Nitro Cold Brew

Take Home Some Grady’s Cold Brew

Despite the mild winter we know that a lot of our customers like their iced coffee year-round, so does a good number of our staff.  We would never dissuade you from coming in and grabbing some Stumptown or Blue Bottle cold brew, but sometimes us coffee fiends need a fix and don’t have a chance to get to our caffeine dealer.  Luckily there is Grady’s Cold Brew a Williamsburg based company that brews and bottles cold brew concentrate that you can keep handy in case of caffeine emergencies.  Grady’s is a New Orleans style blend that comes in a 32oz glass bottle and makes 8 cups of coffee, iced or hot.  The formula is pretty straightforward, add equal parts Grady’s Cold Brew and water or milk over ice and you are ready to go.  Come grab a bottle of Grady’s from our beverage case.

I Love NYou

Celebrate your love for the local, with our I LOVE NY Valentine’s Day Package.

We start with our house made Bacon Jam, a low-and-slow cooked blend of  D’Artagnan’s Applewood Smoked Bacon, and Brooklyn’s own Olso Roasters Coffee. Its sweet and spicy flavors and unique texture make for a perfect condiment to most cheeses. Kinderhook Creek, made by Old Chatham in the Hudson Valley, is an all-sheep Camembert style, unctuous and decadent, sweet and just enough salt.

Because no Valentine’s Celebration is complete without chocolate, we’ve chosen the Nunu Chocolates Beer Box, a 6 pack of truffles blended with some of the best microbrews around. Wash it all down with our Borough’s own Brooklyn Brewery Local 2, a Belgian-style Strong Dark Ale, a touch sweet and malty, a dessert in and of itself. The 750ml bottle is big enough to share, nearly as strong as wine, and full of effervescent bubbles.

I LOVE NY
1 4oz Jar House Made Bacon Jam  * 1/4 lb Kinderhook Creek
1 750 ml of Brooklyn Local 2 * 6-pack Nunu Chocolates Beer Box

All for just $50.

Add your choice of fresh bread from Sullivan Street or Roberta’s for the complete I LOVE NY experience! Pre-order at the cheese counter!
