Join us tonight from 5-7pm at the wine store and sample the ‘Best of Tasting’ and ‘Best Value’ Blanc de Blanc Champagnes from last week’s New York Times. We’ll pour both Delamotte Blanc de Blancs Brut NV ($55) and Pierre Moncuit Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru NV ($43) and you can decide for yourself what you think of these delicate champagnes.
Made solely from the chardonnay grape (as opposed to the inclusion of pinot noir and pinot meunier that can appear in other champagnes), Blanc de Blancs champagnes are delicate and fine. The NYT described the Delamotte as “wonderfully elegant and fresh, with the sort of finesse and understated complexity [we] love in good blanc de blancs.” The Moncuit has the distinction of also being chosen as one of the top five recommended champagnes by the Wall Street Journal this year. The Times raved that it is “precise” and “herbal with fine, clear, lingering citrus and fruit flavors.”
If you can’t make the tasting but want to uncork one of these ‘Best of’ Champagnes on New Years, you can order online here:
