Over the summer, one of our favorite importers decided to concentrate his focus on Italian wines, which meant selling off the Spanish wines in his portfolio.  An importer of impeccable reputation, he was more interested in finding good homes for his wines than merely offloading stock.  We were selected as one of the first to taste through his offerings and after the first sip, Mike immediately called ‘dibs’ on the Bodegas Asenjo & Manso Ceres Ribera del Duero 2005.  At $19.50, almost half off original price and $10 less than you can find it anywhere else, this is a value of epic proportions.

A full-bodied, dense, plush red with luxurious tannins integrated beautifully with intense fruit, this wine will still hold your interest as it ages, though it is drinking perfectly now.  Notes of eucalyptus and a full profile gently enhanced by oak produce a voluptuous, overt wine.
