Join us tonight, Friday, October 14 from 6-8pm to taste our wine of the week, Bodegas Asenjo & Manso Ceres Ribera del Duero 2005 ($19.50, regularly $35).
After running out of our wine of the week before our regular Friday 6-8 pm tasting two weeks ago, last week we thought we were in the clear. Then, minutes before the tasting, a customer who had bought a bottle earlier in the day and tasted it at home walked into the store and bought us out. This week’s wine is almost 1/2 off regular price and with 9 cases in stock, we’re pretty sure we’ll make it to Friday. Though after the tasting, all bets are off. If the taste profile is your cup of tea, this wine will blow your socks off.
Over the summer, one of our favorite importers decided to concentrate his focus on Italian wines, which meant selling off the Spanish wines in his portfolio. An importer of impeccable reputation, he was more interested in finding good homes for his wines than merely offloading stock. We were selected as one of the first to taste through his offerings and after the first sip, Mike immediately called ‘dibs’ on the Bodegas Asenjo & Manso Ceres Ribera del Duero 2005. At $19.50, almost half off original price and $10 less than you can find it anywhere else, this is a value of epic proportions.
A full-bodied, dense, plush red with luxurious tannins integrated beautifully with intense fruit, this wine will still hold your interest as it ages, though it is drinking perfectly now. Notes of eucalyptus and a full profile gently enhanced by oak produce a voluptuous, overt wine.
Bodegas Asenjo & Manso Ceres Ribera del Duero 2005 regularly $35, lowest price on the web $30, from us $19.50. To order, call (718) 797-9463 or order online.
