And might we be so bold to suggest you serve it with one of the value Spanish wines we’re pouring Friday from 6-8pm.
We recently revamped our spanish selections with the assistance of CJ, our resident Spanish wine nut. Two of the new wines quickly shot up to the top of our best-sellers list. Barahonda Monastrell 2009 ($14.75) hails from the hot, dry region of Yecla in south east Spain. The wine is a deep, inky purple with dark, juicy fruits, hints of black pepper and a nice, tannic grip. Ludovicus Terra Alta 2009 ($13.50) originates much further north where the mountainous elevation helps to temper the extreme Mediterranean heat. This is a more modern style, combining traditional Spanish grapes like Tempranillo and Garnacha with the French powerhouses Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah. Rounded out by 3 months in French and American oak, this is a succulent, toasty wine with notes of minerality, dark fruits and chocolate. Both these wines are ideal for summer grilling, pairing perfectly with everything from burgers to grilled pork chops or steak.
