NYTimes’s Best Value Wines for Thanksgiving

Wednesday’s Times featured Foris Rogue Valley Pinot Gris 2008 ($16.50) and Lyeth Meritage 2007 ($16.50) as the ‘Best Values’ to serve with your Thanksgiving dinner.  We’re thrilled to say we have them both in stock!

The New York Times’s tasting panel called the Foris Rogue Valley 2008 “elegant and juicy with a touch of sweetness” yet “balanced by acidity” to make it “refreshing.”  100% Pinot Gris from Oregon’s famed Rogue Valley.

The panel described the 2007 Lyeth Meritage as “fresh and energetic with flavors of dark fruit and earth.”  Meritage denotes an American wine following the Bordeaux blend of cabernet sauvignon and merlot but in this case also includes a small amount of petit verdot and cabernet franc.  A versatile red full of bing cherry and blackberry.
