Simple Simple Syrup

It is de rigeur for a cooking/cocktail blog to post a recipe for simple syrup. Considering the moniker, it would seem wrong to write more than this:

Combine equal parts sugar and water in saucepan, bring to boil while stirring, then cool.

Simple syrup can be refrigerated up to a month in a sealed glass jar like a mason jar. It is useful in sweetening drinks – homemade lemonade when the season comes, hot tea, coffee, diluted pure cranberry juice – and is a crucial element in some cocktails. In short, handy to have around.
